The Volunteer Camp in Romania – Summer 2026 is a missionary volunteer camp organized by the Student Missionary League (Cvx) in Sighet, Transylvania, during the months of June and July.

As per tradition, for Summer 2026 the Student Missionary League (Cvx) is organizing two volunteer camps in Sighet (Romania), where it has been active for over twenty years in the two family homes of the association “Il Quadrifoglio,” in state orphanages, and in facilities in the city that host elderly people and people with disabilities.

FIRST SESSION: June 26 – July 11, 2026
SECOND SESSION: July 11 – July 25, 2026
The dates indicated refer to the departure and arrival days in Italy. Round-trip travel will be by plane with WizzAir.
Travel
Departure
1st session: meeting at Rome FIUMICINO Airport on Saturday, June 28 at 7:00 a.m. (flight to BUDAPEST at 9:25 a.m., arrival in Budapest at 11:10 a.m., followed by bus transfer to Sighet, where arrival is expected around 7:30 p.m.).
2nd session: Saturday, July 12, meeting at Milan-Bergamo ORIO AL SERIO Airport at 6:00 a.m. (flight to CLUJ NAPOCA).
Return
1st session: July 12 with flight from BUDAPEST at 7:15 p.m., arrival at Rome FIUMICINO at approximately 9:05 p.m.
2nd session: July 26 from CLUJ NAPOCA at 6:40 a.m., arrival at Milan-Bergamo ORIO AL SERIO Airport at 7:45 a.m.
Objective of the Camp
To live a strong experience of solidarity with the Romanian population of Sighet, especially with the poorest and most marginalized people. To live in communion with the local Latin Catholic community that hosts the volunteers. To experience mission through service activities and through the search for a personal and community journey of faith.
The experience continues the twinning project between a class from the Visconti High School in Rome and the “Regele Ferdinand” Pedagogical High School in Sighet.
As part of the PCTO program, the activity offers 80 credits.
Activities
Assistance to Ukrainian refugees
Italian language courses (for young people in Sighet and Ukrainian refugees)
Activities with children and people with disabilities
Assistance to the elderly
Activities at the municipal hospital
The day will begin with a moment of common prayer and will conclude, after the service activities, with the celebration of Holy Mass.
Accommodation
The group will be divided into pairs and hosted by families from the Pedagogical High School and/or the Latin parish of Sighet.
Minimum Age
17 years old
Participation Fee
700 Euros (the fee includes travel, accommodation, local excursions, and a possible trip to Auschwitz/Moldova).
Anyone experiencing difficulties with payment (partial or total) is kindly asked to communicate this openly to their group leaders, who will inform the project coordinators.
